Day Twenty-one

This month...

I will admit, I haven't been exactly diligent about completing my resolutions on the exact day, but I have definitely been committing to them over the course of the month, in some form or another.  For example, my new language phrase I actually looked up and recited multiple times, at 4:00 am of the the 14th, rather than during the day of the 13th.  I didn't dance on the 18th, but I have been dancing a lot this month, and was sure to do so yesterday, just in case. I didn't make a meal on the 19th, but yesterday I made homemade flavored peanut butter for a co-worker. The only thing I haven't done yet is wear high-heels.  This was foiled by some poor Valentine's planning on my part. However, Jesse and I have made a date for later this month, so the heels will come out, rain or shine.

I do feel a twinge of shame about slacking on some of my resolutions, but then I return to the thought that I am making up for them on other days. This is ultimately the point: to do each of these things more often.  That, I am doing.

In other less interesting news, studying for the RICA is trudging along. It has given me some interesting ideas for my own teaching, but mostly makes me worry about needing to remember it all. My stack of flash cards is growing....

Oh, and new music for today:

The Skaters (they had me at skaters.)

This was compared to The Unicorns. It is adorable and quaint, like sweet hipster wedding music:

Day Nine

I've been studying hard. I have a stack of flashcards with fascinating terminology, such as 'morpheme' and 'dipthongs.'

I also have been keeping up with my resolutions....well, I didn't do my nails yesterday...but other than that I have been diligent about my promises.  Today my dedication to 'releasing' was absolutely divine. I took the day off. I seriously needed this and, frankly, so did the kids because I was starting to be a total monster to them and, worse, a poor teacher.

I slept in until 8:45, the time school starts. I went for a short run then spent two hours at the salon, getting a cut and color and gabbing with my hair dresser. Then I came home and Jesse and I had 'Date Day' and we made chocolates. I went to pilates and then came home to a wonderful dinner and a glass of wine. It has been a day of decadence, in that it was incredibly simple and relaxing.

Day One

This month is going to very, very boring.

I'm one task away from completing my credential. I have to take the RICA, a state-issued exam about reading instruction: http://www.rica.nesinc.com/ if you are interested.

It's killing me that I haven't done this yet, but it requires that I make time to study.  Well, I have been making time for a lot of things these last few months, so I thought I owed it to myself to make time for this.

So, twenty and nine days of studying for the RICA. Bo-RIng...but when I complete it, it will be an enormous weight lifted off my back and a big fat check off my To Do list.

Good thing I have last month's resolutions keeping the day-to-day stuff more or less interesting.
